THE CHOICES FOR DOCUMENTS Once you have selected your format size, you will then have to chose if you would like a 3 ring binder including the size of the rings, a book portfolio that is slimmer such as a screwpost portfolio, a case or a box.

3 RING BINDERS Quincyshop sells a broad variety of 3 ring binders in unusual materials, styles and format sizes. They are widely used by commercial artists as portfolios and by business organizations in their marketing. Whether for archiving or presenting, these binders are meant to function well and stand out from the crowd. You can choose portrait style (the binding rings are the larger dimension) or landscape style (the binding rings are on the smaller dimension). It does get confusing because paper is usually stated as 8.5 x 11 to indicate a portrait application but most leaders in the industry refer to the binder itself as 11 x 8.5 to indicate portrait. Some manufacturers deviate. We will refer to your binder sizes as clearly as possible-indicating Portrait or Landscape.

CHOOSING MATERIAL We offer you a lot of material choices. Choose material that complements your work and image. We sell the finest aluminum binders made with wonderful piano hinges. It is a perfect material choice for a handsome modern look and can be customized. We also sell unusual acrylic binders in great colors and various transparencies. The translucent binders offer a quick customization look for no additional cost. Other favored materials are cloth, cork, leather, and hardboard.

CHOOSING RING SIZE The standard capacity for .5" rings is 90 sheets, 1" Ring size is 175 sheets, and 2" Ring Size is 350 sheets. INSERTS You can use punched sheets, Polyester Sheet Protectors (simply slip your unpunched documents or art into the protectors to preserve them and protect them, or use adhesive hinges in which your art or document is simply adhered to the hinge that has the hole punched into it. PORTFOLIO BOOKS The two primary categories of portfolio books are Packaged Portfolio Books and Portfolio Covers.

Packaged Portfolio Books: The Screwpost Portfolio Books come packaged in a clear archival polypropylene case with 10 polypropylene sheet protectors, a zippered black nylon presentation jacket and a set of 1/4" & 1/2" extensions. The Multi-Ring Portfolio Books are also packaged in a clear archival polypropylene case and come with 10 polyester sheet protectors and a zippered black nylon presentation jacket.

Screwpost Portfolio Books have 2-4 screwposts on the binding edge, depending on the size of the portfolio. All screwposts books come with polypropylene sheet protectors, which have a welded edge that acts as a hinge, allowing the pages to lie flat. The polyester sheets are not recommended for use with screwpost books. Screwpost books feature a slim profile but can be expanded with the use of extensions. Multi-ring Portfolio Books have either 22 rings (11x8.5 format) or 14 rings (14x11 format). All multi-rings come with polyester sheet protectors, but polypropylene sheets can also be used. The primary benefit of a multi-ring is that the pages lie perfectly flat when the book is open, and it is easy to add and remove pages. Portfolio Covers come in resealable clear bags with no sheets or accessories. Only screwpost books are available in this format. Choose one of three display options to bind your artwork or documents into the book:

Polypropylene Sheet Protectors are pocket-style, top-loading plastic sleeves that are great for protecting and displaying artwork. They are reasonably clear and durable, simple to use, and available in all common document and art formats. Flex-Hinge Mounting Sheets are made of acid-free black paper to which you mount your artwork with adhesive dots or corners. This is an ideal way to display brochures and other three-dimensional print work. They are available in all common document and art formats. Adhesive Hinge Strips are the simplest method of displaying work in a Portfolio Cover. Remove the backing strip and apply to any sheet, then bind directly into the book.
